Bahu turns One!

Today’s post on “What a Lovely Day” is about those tiny feet who has entered our lives and changed it forever.

On the midnight of 3rd July 2015, my sister started getting birth pangs and we took her to the hospital and waited for the most beautiful thing to occur – a new life entering this world. All of our family waiting with nervous excitement in the wee hours of the morning for the big moment. And finally when he did make his grandiose entry into our world, the delight in seeing him was out of this world. There cannot be a sweeter thing than seeing a new-born baby look at the world with big black eyes. There just cannot be.

As I saw him for the first time, my eyes welled up in joy and a sense of sheer happiness came over me. And then the nervousness began. I had never ever held a baby before. Never. Until July 4th 2015. Until that day, I had never held or carried a baby ever. I was always worried I would hurt them or even worse drop them. So I abstained from ever holding a baby. When my sister asked me to hold the baby, I was unsure. I told her the same but she told me to go ahead. I picked up the baby with extreme caution and when I looked into his blissfully smiling face, all my nervousness vanished away. All it took was for me to feel the touch of the new-born and feel him in my arms, looking back at me with those big, black eyes. That is a feeling I will never forget. My nephew.

I gave him the moniker “Bahu” from the Baahubali hype all around and every moment I spent with him till he left gave me some of the sweetest memories of my life. Just by looking at him, I could forget all my worries and smile. Staying up with him all night while he sleeps on my lap, showing him different places, playing with him then and also when he came to India this year, having the privilege to be the first person to cut his hair are some of the many joys he has given me.

Today you are turning One and I would like to wish you –

Many Many Happy Returns of the Day Samendu!

You are the baby angel that came into our lives and made our lives a lot more happier. As you enter year two, I wish for you to make your mom go mad and admire your already outstanding skills and abilities a lot more. And I wish for you to keep that smile on your father’s face that has not stopped since this day last year. I still remember him telling me that becoming a father is the best feeling in the world and advised me to get married soon for the same. That feeling he felt is all because of you. You have such an amazing parents who will always love you. Always remember that.

Bahu

P.S. I love you too!

Soulmated!

Copied Soul

There is this kind of love, the kind where two individuals cross paths, get to know one another and are in the process of liking each other. One of the two confesses their feelings to the other person and the other person takes time, be it pretty short or pretty long to think about it, and then makes a commitment. With time, the relationship blossoms into everlasting love or they part ways, shed a few tears and the search for love goes on. At every step, as they discover each other, they either come closer or separate a little bit more. This kind of love finally lives and dies by the individuals’ evolution with age, distance between their settlement, changing life and career priorities and how the couple reacts to them.

Then there is our kind of love. The kind where all the above phases cease to exist. The kind where one conversation with the person and you know this is the one you have waited for all your life. There are no assessments, no time requirements and no compatibility checks. Everything naturally falls into place like a glove fits a hand. The innumerable similarities, the unwavering trust, the telepathic connection, the feeling of having known them for a really long time and the completeness one feels with the other makes one realize that this is how it’s meant to be all along. This is the kind where the very shattered part of our soul is mended and every void is filled, and the soul becomes seamless like rays of the sun.
For this is when you have found the One.
For this is when you are Soulmated!

Thank you Antara for the background and editing! You are the best 🙂 Thanks for always being there 🙂

Warm Birthday Wishes Anvesh

Today is 20th June. A lovely day in all ways because long ago on this glorious day, a star was born – 24 years ago to be exact. We have known each other for the better part of a decade and our friendship has nurtured and grown over the years into something that we will cherish forever.

I do not exactly remember how and when we became friends. We were in the same school and then in 9th and 10th we became good friends. I think it was Mrs. Simpson’s tuition where we first bonded together. We hung out together, had lunch together at the school basketball court, used to return from school together and did a lot of group-studies together. I fondly remember the time all of us prepared for Mathematics Pre-Board exam at your home and all the preparations we did at my home. All those were good times that became the bricks in our friendship that has been growing ever since.

I vividly remember the blue cycle that you had (I am unable to remember the name) which you rode to everywhere you went.  You were definitely the best cyclist or rather the one who has covered the most distance on bicycle in school by a mile. The amount of water you drink is something which I can never forget. And of course how can I forget the perennial bald look because of your biannual visits to Tirupati!

The way you have built your career from Engineering to this point is something people can learn from and I am sure you made your parents very proud. Right from the beginning starting from Engineering through cracking GRE and completing MS to finally working now, you have come along a long way. Your dedication towards everything you do, your perseverance to achieve your goals, your free-spirited smile and last but not the least, your love and warmth for your friends are qualities I admire a lot.

Many Many Happy Returns of the Day Anvesh

You are a wonderful human being and truly an amazing friend. Have a blast and always live your life. We have got only one life and it is short. So, make the most of it and have a bright future ahead.

P.S. Thank you for always being there for me.

Captain America:Civil War -A Review

Captain America :Civil War is the quintessential Marvel movie-engaging storytelling, constant pushing of its own boundaries, a healthy dose of humor, forgettable antagonists and top-notch action sequences that enthrall the audience. The movie deals with the much discussed topic by critics of the collateral damage due to superheroes saving the world. This point is the underlying theme that propels all the characters’ actions in the film.

The story continues Steve Rogers’ search along with Sam Wilson for the Winter Soldier Bucky Barnes from the previous installment of Captain America as well as the repercussions of human casualties due to the Avengers’ missions from Age of Ultron. Both the aforementioned points lead to a conflict between Steve and Tony when Bucky is found guilty of a mass murder and rest of the Avengers are made to pick sides. Daniel Bruhl as Helmut Zemo adds to the growing list of Marvel antagonists who do not leave a lasting impression on the audience. Further, this version of Zemo is different from the comics and he plays his part in creating interesting swerves to the central Tony-Cap conflict till the very end.

1

The notion of superhero vs superhero was attempted to mixed response in the recently released Batman vs Superman:Dawn of Justice. However, in Civil War the conflict between Captain America and Iron Man is not only well-written but also plays it right along the lines of disagreement building between the two characters since their first altercation in The Avengers (2012). This well-establishment of characters over the past 8 years helps the directors Anthony and Joe Russo to juggle the superheroes at hand with ease in the action sequences and provide hilarious banter as well.

2

The action sequences in the film are the best yet in the Marvel Universe and the Civil War fight of 6 on 6 is without a doubt the coolest superhero action sequence ever. As mentioned before, the way these characters play off each other is the biggest asset in these scenes which was first demonstrated to great effect by Joss Whedon in The Avengers (2012) and carried onto over here expertly by the Russo brothers. Given that the number of superheroes to be handled is going to only go up for the upcoming Avengers films (also being directed by the Russos), the brothers sure are up for the task especially after the way they seamlessly introduced T’Challa aka Black Panther and the much awaited Spiderman to the MCU. Spiderman in his brief cameo absolutely steals the show and Black Panther in a relatively meatier role as the dutiful son, a self-made man and a badass warrior on his quest for vengeance makes us wish his solo movie in 2018 could not come sooner. Marvel continues to marvel (pun intended) in their casting, costume and getting each character’s tone absolutely spot on. Tom Holland’s Spiderman and Chadwick Boseman’s Black Panther only further evidence the fact.

All in all, Captain America – Civil War is a spectacular summer blockbuster that further establishes Marvel’s superiority in the battle between DC vs Marvel. It also helps to have actors such as Chris Evans who symbolizes the essence of the First Avenger to perfection and Robert Downey Jr. who gets to flex his acting muscles in this one to portray a much more troubled  and yet charming Tony Stark. With Benedict Cumberbatch joining the MCU as Doctor Strange next, the Marvel juggernaut refuses to slow down anytime soon. In my not so biased opinion, Captain America – Civil War is a must watch for both comic lovers as well as the casual moviegoers alike and kick-starts Marvel’s Phase 3 with a bang.
